JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs varied grounds keeping of average
difficulty; and performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED required.
Minimum 2-4 years commercial grounds keeping experience.
Must have a valid Tennessee Drivers License.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Tennessee Applicators Pesticide License preferred or must be able to obtain
within 6 months of hire.
Must be able to wear mandatory safety equipment.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and some
holidays.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads others in performing mowing of baseball, football, and soccer fields,
picnic areas, grassed areas around buildings and other areas; drags fields;
weeds and trims areas; picks up debris such as paper, bottles, cups and limbs in
making areas more attractive; sods and seeds grass; top dresses designated
areas; does hand and other watering; spreads fertilizer; trims trees; prep of
athletic fields by dragging infields, lining fields, and various other
activities.
Leads others in performing landscaping and related work such as refurbishing
flower and shrub beds, trimming and shaping hedges and other vegetation; applies
insecticides, plant food and other chemicals to plants and vegetation.
Responsible for leading grounds crews in routine grounds work and other
assigned tasks.
Cleans bathrooms and other facilities; does simple plumbing, carpentry,
electrical, and painting in the maintenance and repair of facilities.
Keeps routine records and makes simple reports.
Assists in the construction of park facilities.
Operates tractors, aerators, bunker machines, triplex mowers, rotary mowers,
single reel mowers, field rakes, trucks and trailers and related equipment; does
pre-service to equipment operated.
Maintain records in compliance to Federal, State, and City regulations
Work safely observing all OSHA, Federal, State, and City regulations. Report
any accidents immediately to Manager.
Correctly wear appropriate personal protective equipment when required.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment. Report any malfunctioning equipment
to Manager.
Conduct behavior at all times in a professional manner to reflect positively
on customers perception of town facility.
Help maintain the cleanliness of machines, work area and facility. Report
incidents, or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
Ability to assist weekend Supervisor by leading grounds crew in assigned
tasks.
Any other duties as assigned by manager.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide coverage in absence of other personnel.
Promote the teamwork environment. Assist coworkers when necessary.
