Gingerbread Workshop
December 9th, 2008 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm
at the Rosenwald Community Building at
Hilltop Park, 565 Mason Tucker Drive

 This program is for children of all ages and is FREE!

Please register early as space is limited.  Register by calling 459-9773 between 8am - 4:30pm or email us at christina.manus@townofsmyrna.org

We are inviting children to come to our
 Gingerbread Workshop and have some holiday
 fun with decorating.  We will have Mini Gingerbread Houses available for older children and
 Gingerbread Men available for the smaller children.  We ask that the parents participate
and help their children decorate.
All supplies available on-site.

 


 

THE KENNETH "COON" VICTORY

LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD

 Nominations are requested from the Smyrna community for the 2008 Kenneth "Coon" Victory Lifetime Service Award.  The award is presented annually to pay tribute to a Smyrna citizen who has distinguished him or herself by years of unselfish and dedicated volunteer service to the Smyrna community, either in youth and/or adult athletics or other civic and non-profit organizations.  The award is an ongoing tribute to Kenneth "Coon" Victory, also a former Commissioner of Parks and Recreation, and his family as a reminder of the years of volunteer contributions they have given to the Smyrna community.  Deadline for nominations is December 11th by 4:30pm.  The Parks Advisory Board will make the selection at the  December Parks Advisory Board Meeting.  The Volunteer of the Year Dinner, recognizing the Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Volunteers of the Year for all of the Smyrna Parks & Recreation Youth and Adult Athletic Leagues,  Coach of the Year & Parent of the Year, will be held on February 20, 6:30pm at the Smyrna Town Centre.  For information and nomination applications, contact Monty Perkins, Smyrna Parks and Recreation, at 459-9742, X2612 email:  monty.perkins@townofsmyrna.org or stop by the Parks and Recreation Office, Town Center, 100 Sam Ridley Parkway, Smyrna.  You may also nominate an individual online, by clicking here.


Open gym is a program sponsored by Smyrna Parks Department where
kids have a chance to play pick up basketball indoors at our local schools free of charge. 
Kids are required to sign in and there is a gym monitor
on hand to monitor play.  
Also the track is open to walkers at the high school.

Smyrna High School  Wednesday nights 6pm - 9pm
(14 years and up)
Smyrna Middle School Wednesday nights 6pm - 9pm
(11 - 13yrs. old)
Please park in the rear and enter through the back doors!
Rock Springs Elementary School Wed. nights 6pm - 8:30pm
(10 and under) 

We do require that parents must accompany their children at this age group
